Alberto Grossi Woodwinds offers a wide variety of services for all flutes and piccolos. A specialist in professional flutes, Mr. Grossi is a certified Muramatsu flute technician, having trained at the Muramatsu flute factory in Japan. He is also certified to work with Straubinger pads, which are used by such flute makers as Powell, Brannen, Miyazawa, and Burkart. All work is guaranteed for thirty days, and repads and overhauls are guaranteed for ninety days. Prices vary depending on instrument model and extent of repairs needed. Recommended annually to keep flutes and piccolos in optimal playing condition, a Clean, Oil, and Adjust includes a complete mechanical adjustment to ensure proper seating of pads, change of pads as needed, cleaning and light hand-polishing of flute body and mechanism. Individual pads and headjoint cork are changed if needed and priced separately. Time required: 2-3 days

Less extensive than an Overhaul, a Repad includes the replacement of all pads with your choice of pad type (standard felt or Straubinger), and the changing of corks and bumpers as needed. Muramatsu flutes are repadded with Muramatsu pads unless another type is specified. The flute body and mechanism are also cleaned and lightly hand-polished. Repads are generally reserved for flutes less than 5 years old or in excellent mechanical condition, to be determined by a thorough examination of the instrument. Time required: 2 weeks

A major undertaking, an Overhaul includes a complete repad with your choice of pad type (standard felt or Straubinger), replacement of all corks and felts, removal of dents and scratches, refitting of keys to remove side to side motion and any other mechanical repairs, cleaning and polishing of keys and body, and cleaning and oiling of the wood for wooden instruments. Muramatsu flutes are repadded with Muramatsu pads unless another type is specified. Time required: 3 weeks
